Outsell believes that 2010 will mark the year in which existing and emerging technologies will again begin reshaping information publishing in ways that will make the print-to-digital shift look simple by comparison. In its latest report, the only research and advisory firm focused on the publishing and information industries highlights cloud computing as a key technology “that matters.” Beyond citing the early market entrants of note (large scale enterprises such as Google, Microsoft and Amazon) – Mediaspectrum is featured for providing a cloud computing platform specifically targeted at publishers, offering “a soup to nuts replacement for their legacy applications.”
According to Marc Strohlein, Chief Agility Officer at Outsell, “[We] believe that the abilities that cloud computing provides – scalability, computing power in demand, cutting edge development tools and environments, and web enablement – will be key to many publishers’ survival in the rapid and discontinuous evolution of web technology.”
Strohlein goes on to say, “[Mediaspectrum] offers cloud-based applications for advertising, content management, and portal creation, and that has quickly attracted a number of news organizations as clients, including USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, and the LA Times.”
