Oct 12, 2009 — Poynter media business analyst Rick Edmonds spoke last week with Tribune, exploring the notion, "can self-service newspaper ads crack the small merchants market?" According to Edmonds, the answer sways toward affirmative - as demonstrated by Tribune's success since implementing Mediaspectrum's Ad Sales platform.
Mike Sacks, Tribune VP of operations, is quoted, "The industry is looking for a silver bullet solution (to broaden the advertiser base), and we think this could be it."
Edmonds makes reference to (Outsell media analyst) Ken Doctor's earlier favorable review of the Mediaspectrum/Tribune partnership, "Doctor and I are of a mind on this one...there appears to be serious additional revenue potential (in the platform), and that's what the industry needs most right now."
