Mediaspectrum’s New Cloud Computing Platform Makes Headlines

Sep 18, 2009 — With the launch last week of its Cloud Computing Platform for Publishers, Mediaspectrum was the buzz amid reporters - for its advertising and editorial media applications now available as a hosted service in the Cloud.

Newmediahub.com asks the question, "Just how important is a software platform? One company is betting that its cloud-based software will allow newspapers large and small to survive by restructuring more quickly. Mediaspectrum reports astonishing cost-saving results for its large-chain clients and says it now plans to host smaller newspapers on its cloud-based platform."

"Could the cloud really transform the industry? Maybe...While other software companies offer web-based functionality, (Jay) Cody says Mediaspectrum's is the only one that is ‘purely web-based' and thus free of server-based legacy software that still has to be hosted, integrated and updated."

CMSWire.com ties the Cloud news to a recent report, in which CMSWire discussed "one of the way newspapers fail is because they are slow to adapt and merge to digital, efficient platforms." They go on, "So why not break out of the mold and adapt readily and ably with Mediaspectrum's Cloud Computing?"

"Mediaspectrum's Cloud allows publishers to consolidate, streamline and facilitate legacy solutions through a web-based platform aimed at promoting new advertising initiatives and opportunities. With the cloud, publishers can ‘plug-in' to their ‘business transforming technologies' sans set-up, software expense and cumbersome infrastructure."

Editor&Publisher reports that by "consolidating many legacy solutions into one Web-based platform," Mediaspectrum's Cloud platform "facilitates new advertising and commerce opportunities for publishers." Now available as a service via the internet, E&P further reports on the platform's quick accessibility, "eliminating the time and expense associated with on-site implementations, including new software and servers."

And FOLIO Magazine quotes Mediaspectrum's VP of Marketing, Jay Cody "We are making our technology available to any publisher as a service. Publishers never have to buy, maintain or support the hardware or software stack again."
